Medicare covers people 65 and older
Medicaid covers low income families.
These are both examples of socialized health care, but I never hear conservatives complain about them. Now we get a bill which expands children’s health care coverage, and conservatives seem to hate it:http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;…
The president’s alternative is to renew SCHIP by spending an additional $5 billion over the next five years. The non-partisan Congressional Budget Office says this wouldn’t even support coverage of kids already in the program.
Bush says the bill would distort SCHIP’s low-income focus by extending coverage to families making up to $83,000 a year. Backers of the bill insist it does no such thing. As under current law, a state can ask to go that high, typically because it has a high cost of living, but it still needs the administration’s permission.
Why cover the poor and elderly but not kids?

You forgot to mention that Bush expanded Medicare to cover prescription drugs for the elderly…Medicare part D is the biggest entitlement program in the last twenty years.
Children don’t vote
Well considering a higher percentage of Children have health insurance today, than when Bush took office,
Your critisism is misplaced.
Also more children under the poverty level have insurance today, than when Bush took office.
Bush just ask congress to focus on those children living under the poverty level,
And not to expand coverage to middle class and adults at the expense of those children.
The bill congress passed, would allow adults up to 25 years old to qualify.
Since when is a 25 year old a child? How many children do you know have been denied health care? Think before you ask. Common sense would probably have kept you from ever posting a question like that, but I forget the libs voted against common sense.
LOL-Some Republican said liberals don’t use common sense-yeah. I see how ‘sensible’ conservative’s are…especially when they use phrases like ‘pro-life’ meaning they want the actual fully developed human life involved NOT to have a say in what medical treatment she gets.
But, I do have to say, I’ve been on low incme situations where my child was able to get healthcare through the gov’t.
Only fetuses pique their curiosity and attention.
Bizarre, isn’t it?
Because, their parents should be able to cover it. Unless their parents are poor. If so, then see below.
‘Medicaid covers low income families.’
Uh, that includes children, too y’know….
after they are popped out, they are human beings, and should get a job and support themselves like any other American. /end sarcasm
“but I never hear conservatives complain about them”
ok, considering the medicare/medicaid programs will exceed the entire federal budget by 2041 anyone who knows anything about goverment has said both these programs have to be curtailed. is it hard to be this clueless or does it come naturally
If you never hear conservatives complaining about Medicare and Medicaid then you certainly don’t pay attention. I don’t support Medicare or Medicaid. I support stealing less money from the American taxpayer so they can provide medical care for themselves.
Low income families can already apply for medicaid for their children. The adults will not be covered and there may be a copay but the children are covered. Up to about $30,000 a year I think.http://www.ohca.state.ok.us/individuals.…
